Zane Solar Pool Heating: Industry-Leading TPR Collectors for Adelaide Pools

Zane Solar Pool Heating is the flagship solar pool heating system installed by Beasley Pool Heating across South Australia since 1979. Zane Solar Heating uses either their industry-leading thermoplastic rubber (TPR) soft matting, or their precision injection-moulded, high-grade hard-bodied polymer panel. This is paired with an intelligent dual-sensor solar controller, vacuum relief valves for drainage and frost protection, and integration with your existing pool circulation.

Designed for Australian sun and salt conditions, Zane TPR systems have a 25-year design life, and Beasley still services systems we installed in the late 1990s. Available as a fully installed system or as a DIY kit.

OUR FLAGSHIP SYSTEM

Who Zane Solar Pool Heating is right for

The Zane range is Beasley's flagship solar offering, the system we'd put on our own homes. It's the right choice for most Adelaide pools where solar is viable. Here's specifically who it suits.

You're choosing between residential and commercial-scale installs

The Zane range scales from single-family pools to large commercial arrays. Same engineering principles, different sizing.

You want a proven, long-life system

Zane collectors are designed for 25 years and we routinely service systems we installed in the late 1990s. This isn't a short-term install.

You want a complete, tested system

Zane systems include the collectors, intelligent controller, sensors and vacuum relief valves. It's the full system, integrated and warranted.

You want genuine product, not imports

Zane is Australian-engineered for Australian conditions. As authorised Zane dealers, we install genuine product, never rebadged or substitutes.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

What a complete Zane Solar Pool Heating system includes

A Zane system isn't a stack of panels. It's an integrated solar pool heating system. Here's what's in every Zane installation by Beasley.

Depending on which system you choose, these are the core of your system. Gulfstream uses an industry-leading thermoplastic rubber (TPR) soft matting. The Gulfpanel uses a precision injection-moulded, high-grade hard-bodied polymer panel. Both are dark and UV-stabilised, each a series of dozens of small water channels engineered for Australian sun and salt. Choose between Gulfstream (proven workhorse) or Gulfpanel (premium high-output), see the comparison below.

A Zane PC5 Solar controller monitors roof temperature and pool temperature, so it only runs the system when the roof is hotter than the pool. No wasted pump time, no manual operation needed.

Vacuum relief valve

A built-in vacuum relief valve drains the collectors whenever the system is turned off. This is essential in winter, draining the collectors to prevent water freezing in the water channels.

Plumbing and pool circulation integration

Connection to your existing pool pump (or a dedicated booster pump on larger systems). Includes return lines, fittings and isolation valves.

Commissioning, warranty and documentation

Once installed, we commission the system, set the controller, and walk you through how it works. Zane manufacturer warranty plus Beasley installation workmanship guarantee.

Everything you need for a complete Zane solar pool heating system

From Zane collectors and the PC5 controller to plumbing, roof installation and commissioning, our team takes care of the complete system from start to finish.

HOW IT WORKS

How a Zane Solar Pool Heating system actually works

Zane systems are simple by design. Here's exactly what happens between your pool and your roof.

1. The pump pushes pool water up to the roof: Your existing pool pump (or a dedicated booster pump on larger systems) circulates pool water through the Zane collectors.

2. Water flows through the Zane solar collectors: The dark, UV-stabilised collectors heat the water directly from the sun, plus residual heat radiating from the roof itself.

3. Heated water returns to the pool: Warm water flows back through the return line and re-enters the pool, gradually raising the overall water temperature.

4. The smart controller manages everything automatically: Sensors compare roof temperature to pool temperature; the controller only runs the system when the roof is hotter. No manual operation, no wasted pump time.

5. Frost-protection vacuum valves protect the system: When the system switches off, the vacuum valve opens, allowing the solar matting or panels to drain all water and prevent damage from freezing temperatures.

That's the entire system. No fuel, no combustion, no compressors. Just plumbing, sun and an intelligent controller, for up to 25 years.

GULFSTREAM OR GULFPANEL

Gulfstream vs Gulfpanel: choosing your Zane collector

The Zane range includes two distinct collector types. Both deliver excellent performance; they're suited to slightly different installs.

Not sure which one suits your roof? We size and recommend during the free onsite quote, and we'll say so if the Gulfstream will do the job.

Gulfstream and Gulfpanel each have their own page with the full detail.

WHAT DRIVES THE COST?

What does a Zane Solar Pool Heating System cost?

We can't give you a fixed price without seeing your pool and roof, but here's what drives the cost so you understand the quote when you get it.

Collector area

The biggest single driver. Roughly equal to your pool's surface area (for example, 40sqm for a 10m x 4m pool). South-facing roofs typically need 20 to 30% extra.

Collector range (Gulfstream vs Gulfpanel)

Gulfstream is the proven workhorse at the standard price point; Gulfpanel sits at a premium for higher output per square metre plus vermin and wildlife protection (especially cockatoos).

Roof complexity

Tile vs Colorbond, single-storey vs double-storey, pitch and access. All affect install time and any required structural work.
Black solar pipework running along a side fence from the pool equipment to the roof

Plumbing run

Distance between pool equipment and collectors. Longer runs need more pipework and may need a booster pump.

Controller specification

The Zane PC5 controller is included with the install quote unless stated otherwise.

What we'll never do: Quote a fixed price over the phone, or add hidden costs after the quote.

And we'll never push you toward the Gulfpanel when the Gulfstream would do the job equally well.

WE HAVE THE ANSWERS

Zane Solar Pool Heating FAQs

  • Zane solar collectors come in two forms. There's the standard soft matting, made from an industry-leading thermoplastic rubber (TPR). This is the Gulfstream model and it's the standard install for the majority of homes across SA. The Gulfpanel is the vermin and wildlife resistant, hard-bodied precision injection-moulded polymer panel. It comes in prefabricated sizes and has a higher solar output than the TPR soft matting, but also a higher price point.

The collectors are dark, UV-stabilised materials that contain dozens of small water channels stretching across the roof. As pool water flows through these tubes, it absorbs heat from the sun and the heated roof underneath. The result is an efficient, durable, low-maintenance solar collector designed for a 25-year service life in Australian conditions.

  • Beasley has installed Zane solar pool heating across South Australia since 1979, over 45 years. We're an authorised Zane dealer and have installed more than 20,000 Zane systems across SA.

  • Gulfstream is the proven workhorse, the recommendation for standard residential pools with available roof space. Gulfpanel is the premium high-output option, especially for limited roof space, premium residential installs, or where vermin and wildlife protection is a requirement. Both deliver excellent performance; the right choice depends on your specific install.

  • Zane systems carry the manufacturer's warranty, which is industry-leading for solar pool heating. Beasley also backs its installation workmanship directly. Specific warranty terms are confirmed during the quote and provided in writing with your installed system.

  • The Zane Gulfstream is available as a DIY kit in five sizes (18, 22, 28, 33 and 40sqm). The kit includes collectors, fittings and full installation instructions, with phone and email support from Beasley during your install. The Gulfpanel is supplied as a professionally installed system only.

  • Beasley services every Zane system we install. Our Beverley warehouse stocks Zane spares, so we strive to complete most repairs within 48 to 72 hours of you calling. We still service Zane systems we installed in the late 1990s.

  • As a rule of thumb in Adelaide, you'll want solar collector area roughly equal to your pool's surface area, so a 10m x 4m pool wants approximately 40sqm of collectors. South-facing roofs need 20 to 30% extra. We'll size accurately during our free quote.
