THE PERFECT POOL HEATING SOLUTION

Pool Heat Pumps in Adelaide, Authorised Guardian Dealer

A pool heat pump extracts heat from ambient air and transfers it into your pool. It's the same technology as a reverse-cycle air conditioner, applied to pool water. The result is reliable heating in any weather, including through Adelaide's winter, from a compact unit beside your equipment pad.

Beasley Pool Heating is South Australia's authorised Guardian dealer, supplying their full inverter range from the everyday Eco Pro through to the premium Lux V, all installed and serviced by our own team since 1979.

IS A POOL HEAT PUMP RIGHT FOR YOU?

When A Pool Heat Pump Makes Sense

Heat pumps aren't always the obvious first choice for an Adelaide pool. Solar is cheaper to run, and plenty of pools suit solar. But heat pumps are the right answer in a few specific situations.

A pool heat pump is the right choice if you:

Don't have suitable roof for solar

Not enough roof space, fully shaded, or structural concerns (eg polycarbonate roofing or soft terracotta tiles). A heat pump sits at ground level and needs no roof.

Have rooftop solar PV already

If you have electricity-generating solar PV on your roof, running a heat pump during daylight hours is essentially free, using excess generation that would otherwise export to the grid for minimal feed-in.

Want to swim year-round

Solar can't carry an Adelaide pool through June to August. An appropriately sized heat pump can, even when ambient air temperatures are down to around 5°C.

Want precise temperature control

Heat pumps let you set and forget a target temperature. Solar adds heat when there's sun; heat pumps maintain temperature regardless.

YOUR NEW SYSTEM IS HERE

What A Complete Beasley Heat Pump Installation Includes

A pool heat pump isn't just the unit. It's a unit correctly sized to your pool, wired into your home's electricity, and plumbed into your existing pool filtration system. Here's what's in every installation.

Guardian inverter heat pump

Sized to your pool volume and target temperature. Choice of Eco Pro (Value for Performance) or Lux V (premium, ultra-quiet, cold climate).
Plumbing integration, Pool heat pump photo

Plumbing integration

Connection into your existing pool filtration system, with isolation valves if necessary so the heat pump can be serviced without draining the pool.
Electrical connection, Pool heat pump photo

Electrical connection

Small units are single-phase 240V plug-in. Medium units and our large three-phase units are hardwired into an isolator, sometimes on a dedicated circuit. We coordinate all licensed electrical work with our in-house electrician.
Programmable controller, Pool heat pump photo

Programmable controller

Set a target temperature and the heat pump maintains it. Schedule heating to coincide with solar PV generation if you have it.
Site preparation, Pool heat pump photo

Site preparation

Concrete pad or appropriate base, airflow discharge clearance, and sound consideration for placement.
Commissioning and walkthrough, Pool heat pump photo

Commissioning and walkthrough

We start the system, confirm operation, walk you through the controller, and leave documentation.

Everything you need for a complete pool heat pump installation

From correct unit sizing and plumbing to electrical connection, setup and final walkthrough, our team takes care of the complete installation from start to finish.

HOW IT WORKS IN 5 EASY STEPS

Our Heat Pump Installation Process

A heat pump installation is typically simpler than solar (no roof work) but it still needs careful sizing and electrical coordination. Here's how it runs...

Enquiry and initial assessment:

Online form or phone call. Pool size, location, electrical setup if known. About two minutes.

Free onsite consultation:

We come to you. Given our experience, we can build the majority of quotes with aerial photography and a few photos of your pool equipment, electrical switchboard and proposed site sent via email. Depending on the complexity of your install, and if it is required, a site visit will be scheduled. Discuss your goals.

Detailed written quote:

Fixed-price, itemised. Includes heat pump, plumbing, electrical work and cost of total investment.

Installation:

Typically half a day for metro residential clients, our team handles plumbing and unit installation; our licensed electrician handles electrical work and unit connection. All coordinated as a single visit.

Commissioning and handover:

We start the unit, confirm output, set the controller to your target temperature, and walk you through how to schedule and adjust.

"This new system works 100 times better than what I had before! Definitely recommend their service!"

THE COST DRIVERS

What Does A Pool Heat Pump Cost in Adelaide?

Heat pump pricing has more variables than solar: unit size, electrical requirements and plumbing complexity. Here's what drives the cost...

Heat output capacity (kW), Pool heat pump photo

Heat output capacity (kW)

Sized to your pool volume and target temperature. Most standard family pools (40 to 60kL) suit a 13 to 17kW unit. Smaller pools need less, larger pools need more, or multiple units.
Unit range, Pool heat pump photo

Unit range

Eco Pro (Value for Performance) vs Lux V (premium, cold climate, ultra-quiet). Performance and longevity scale with price.
Electrical work, Pool heat pump photo

Electrical work

Smaller units run on single-phase 240V from existing circuits; larger units often need a dedicated circuit or three-phase supply, plus switchboard work.
Plumbing complexity, Pool heat pump photo

Plumbing complexity

Simplicity of the connection into your existing pool filtration system; more complex if your pool filtration plumbing needs to be reconfigured to accommodate the heat pump.
Running costs, Pool heat pump photo

Running costs

An appropriately sized heat pump on a covered residential pool in Adelaide typically costs $30 to $80 per week to maintain swimming temperature in swimming seasons; more in winter. This is offset if you have solar PV.

The right heat pump starts with the right sizing, not the biggest unit.

We assess your pool size, target temperature, existing plumbing and electrical setup before recommending a system, so you only pay for the capacity your pool actually needs.

GOT A QUESTION ABOUT YOUR PUMP?

Pool Heat Pump FAQs

  • Running cost depends on the unit's size and efficiency, your pool size, your set temperature, and how often you swim. As a rough guide, an appropriately sized heat pump on a covered residential pool typically costs $30 to $80 per week to maintain a comfortable swimming temperature in the swimming season, and more in winter.

  • Yes, and that's the main advantage over solar. Modern inverter pool heat pumps continue to extract heat from the ambient air down to around 5°C. Output drops as the air gets colder, but if sized correctly, they will keep a covered pool at swimming temperature through an Adelaide winter.

  • Initial heat-up depends on water volume, starting temperature, and heat pump output. As a guide, a 50kL pool with a 17kW heat pump and a thermal cover typically heats from ambient cold temperature to 28°C over 1 to 3 days. During that period the heat pump runs at full capacity. Once the pool is at temperature, it only runs to maintain the heat.

  • Beside your pool equipment pad, typically near the existing pool pump and filter. The unit needs clear airflow space and access to power. We will assess the location and have air discharge deflectors available if required.

  • Most of the larger units will. Smaller units run on standard single-phase 240V; larger units may need a dedicated circuit or three-phase supply. We'll confirm during the quote and coordinate with our in-house licensed electrician (or yours) on what's required.

  • Guardian heat pumps have a service life of up to 15 years if well-maintained. The main factors in longevity are routine servicing, water chemistry, and protection from coastal salt air on coastal installs.

  • Yes, and many of our customers do. Running a heat pump during daylight hours from your home's solar PV system can dramatically reduce or eliminate running costs.
