INSTALLATION

Installation FAQs

How installs work, how long they take, and what to expect on the day.

How long does solar installation take?

Most metro Adelaide residential solar installations are completed in a single day by our team.

Pool heating FAQs photo

Will installation disrupt my pool?

Minimal disruption. Most installs proceed without any impact to the pool. The filtration system is only turned off for the duration of the install, which causes no issues to your pool.

How long does heat pump installation take?

Typically half a day for metro residential, depending on whether new electrical work is required.

Do I need council permission to install?

For standard residential solar or heat pump installations, typically no. We’ll let you know if your specific install requires any permits or approvals during the quote.

Will installation damage my roof?

No. We use appropriate fixings for your roof type (tile, Colorbond, metal deck) and assess structural condition during the quote.

Building a new pool? When should I think about heating?

Talk to us early. Coordinating heating with the pool build (timing, plumbing connections, controller placement) is easier than retrofitting later.

WHAT WILL I BE PAYING?

Cost & Pricing FAQs

What pool heating costs in Adelaide, upfront and week to week.

SIZING

Sizing

How big a system you actually need, and what happens if you undersize.

How big a pool solar heating system do I need?

As a rule, collector area roughly equal to your pool’s surface area. Use the Solar Sizing Calculator or call us for sizing help.

How big a heat pump do I need?

Sized to your pool volume and target temperature. Most family pools (40 to 60kL) suit 13 to 17kW. Use the Heat Pump Sizing Calculator or call us.

What if my roof faces south?

Solar works great for north, east and west facing roofs. South-facing roofs need around 20 to 30% more collector area to compensate for reduced sun exposure.

How much roof space do I need for solar?

Roughly equal to your pool’s surface area, ideally north-facing. We assess the specific roof during the free quote.

Will a smaller (cheaper) system still work?

Underspecified systems deliver underspecified results: less heat, shorter swim season extension. We always quote what’ll genuinely work for your goals.

CHOOSING A SYSTEM

Choosing a system

Solar, heat pump, DIY or both: the questions that decide it.

Should I choose solar or a heat pump?, Pool heating FAQs photo

Should I choose solar or a heat pump?

Both have their benefits. Solar is the most cost effective way to heat your pool provided you have adequate, non-shaded roof space. Heat pumps are a great option if roof spaces are limited, or if you have solar PV. See the full Solar vs Heat Pump comparison.
Can I run solar and a heat pump together?, Pool heating FAQs photo

Can I run solar and a heat pump together?

Yes, and it’s a popular choice for customers who want the lowest running cost through most of the year plus the option to swim year-round. The solar collectors carry the bulk of the heating whenever there’s sun, and the heat pump quietly tops the water up on cool days and through the shoulder season and winter. Cheap fuel of solar, certainty of a heat pump, in one system.
DIY kit or professional install?, Pool heating FAQs photo

DIY kit or professional install?

DIY suits owners comfortable working at height with basic plumbing and electrical skills, or owners outside our standard install area. Professional install suits owners who want it done quickly by experts. The product is identical either way.
Zane Gulfstream vs Gulfpanel?, Pool heating FAQs photo

Zane Gulfstream vs Gulfpanel?

Gulfstream is the soft matting and the proven workhorse, the default for most standard residential pools. Gulfpanel is hard polymer plastic specifically designed for wildlife and vermin protection. It also has a higher output rating, which serves roofs with limited space or commercial applications.
Guardian Eco Pro vs Lux V?, Pool heating FAQs photo

Guardian Eco Pro vs Lux V?

Eco Pro is the value for performance series: titanium inverter, strong efficiency, competitively priced. Lux V is the premium tier: titanium inverter, ultra-quiet operation, cold climate engineered, compact footprint for tight spaces.
